Here Come the Boys!

How the men get ready

At first you might think that there is not much for the groom to do before getting married (other than turn up) but actually the men still have to get their shirts on, ties done up, cufflinks fastened, shoes polished, flowers in the lapels, drinks to have (maybe a cigar) and, if you are in the kilt, there is the sporran to attach! So, here come the boys!

After all of that, it’s time to get together with your friends and get off to the ceremony venue before the bride arrives. You might be travelling on foot, motorbike, sports-car, limo or even by bus – however you are getting there it pays to be ready on time.

Some of the things I get asked a lot are: which side to I pin my flowers, how do I do up kilt shoe laces, where are my cuff-links, is my tie straight? I can help with all of these and still take the photos of the moments that matter.

Shoes, shirt and cufflinks to start with…

and now the tricky process of the tie or cravat…

I have lost count of the number of times I get asked about which side and which way up does the button-hole go – (up on the left lapel)…

Nearly there now, just add a watch chain or sporran, have a drink and get a friend to push you out of the door…
