About me…

… I don’t always take life seriously but I do love my photography!
Some thoughts about me. After studying for an MA in Social Science at Glasgow University, I was lucky enough to live and work on the Island of Iona for many years, during which time I had my own traditional darkroom and digital photographic restoration business. While living there I photographed and wrote a book: The Cloisters of Iona Abbey , my first commercial success.
In 2007 I went back to University (Derby) to study for a B. A. (Hons) in Commercial Photography, for which I was given a first. I was also pleased to be awarded Associate membership of the British Institute of Professional Photography, ABIPP, at the same time, based on my portfolio of work. After movingto the far North of Scotland I allowed my BIPP membership to lapse. Now I am based in Edinburgh.
It took nearly 25 years but I am now delighted to finally be a full-time photographer.
I also love technology and gadgets. I like to take things apart and rebuild them; radios, TVs, electric guitars, synthesisers, washing machines, computers, bicycles, Hi-Fi, Scalextric, cameras, model railways… occasionally I even get these working and back together again!
