Earlier this week I had the pleasure of photographing a master woodturner, Roger Waterhouse, at his workshop. Roger lives and works at the edge of his own woods and so has a constant supply of materials waiting to, literally, be turned into something wonderful. One technique he showed me was deliberately burning the wood and then burnishing it to get a wonderful dark finish on the surface. A real master craftsman!
